The Gospel

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for men's sins, allowing us to have a relationship with God. Christ's death makes it possible to be made free from the bondage of sin, and to live in heaven with God for eternity. Faith in Christ is a requirement of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).

  • God created mankind (Genesis 1:1)
  • God Himself is holy (1 John 1:5)
  • God requires holiness of mankind (Galatians 3:10)
  • God gave mankind the opportunity to choose whether to obey God's laws. Adam, the first man, chose to disobey God's law, and that moment represents the fall of mankind (Romans 5:12).
  • Everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23)

The Gospel by Sarah H.

The gospel is the truth of God, the reality of man's need, the manifestation of Jesus Christ and the simplicity of the plan for redemption.

God is love (1 John 4:8). God is just (Deut. 32:4). God is perfect and holy (Psalms 99:5). God is the creator of heaven and earth (Col. 1:16). God created everything for His glory and His honor (Rev. 4:11). God hates sin and cannot allow it in His presence (Rom. 6:23); but God also loves us (John 3:16).

Man is God's most precious creation (Gen. 1:26). Man was created to glorify and honor God and therefore cannot live a complete or fulfilled life without Him (Matt. 22:37). Man is selfish and proud. Man is sinful (because of Adam and Eve) and therefore needs a way to be redeemed to God. But man cannot reach God on his own (Rom. 5:12).

Jesus Christ is God in human form (Phil. 2:6-7). He came to earth as God's perfect and only son to provide a way for man to reach God. Jesus Christ is the way to God, the truth of the scriptures and eternal life for all who believe (John 14:6). Jesus Christ is the picture of a perfect human - one who never sinned and lived a life completely according to God's plan and totally committed to serving and honoring God (Heb. 4:15; 1 John 3:8).

The Gospel of Salvation can be given in just four parts.

The first one is God: "God that made the world and all things therein ... he is Lord of heaven and earth ... he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth ... that they should seek the Lord" (Acts 17:24-27).

The Bible explains that God created us and sustains us and, therefore, has the right to absolute authority in our lives. Out of His love, He made us in His image so that we would seek to honor Him as the true Creator. He is a holy, just and loving God.

The next one is Man, "The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God." (Psalm 14:2).

God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who is the creator and ruler of the universe, made humanity like Himself to magnify his amazing character.

Mankind was originally made morally pure so that we could have a relationship with this morally pure God. However, we all chose to reject God's standard of moral purity to go after our own evil desires, which angered a morally pure God and severed our relationship with Him. Since our minds are completely darkened and corrupted by evil, there is no possible way to have our relationship with God restored based on anything our evil hearts could come up with. Not a prayer, baptism, confession, ritual, or sacrifice could ever satisfy the terrible anger of God towards our evil rebellion. God hates our evil so much that he cursed us to experience pain and die and suffer eternal agony because of it.
