“As a teenage boy, I received Christ as my Savior. I had perceived myself as a ‘good boy.’ I was a church member and a regular attendee (mom made me go). In the process of time, the preaching of the Word of God challenged my self-righteousness, and one night, I confessed that I was a sinner and asked God to save me. God dealt with me about pastoral ministry. Not knowing how to ask my pastor what to do, I walked into his study and confidently said, “how much does this job pay?”. Understanding my fear and anxiety he simply laughed. That fall (1961) I enrolled as a student at Baptist Bible College. In the next four years, I earned a BS degree and found my precious life partner. I would later earn an MA in Biblical Studies (2007). In the years following, I would spend some time on a pastoral staff, 6 1/2 years in planting a new church (which is doing well to this day), and 30 years and 8 months pastoring another church. Doris and I moved here in January of 2008 and have been members of Grace ever since. I count it a privilege to be an Elder at Grace.”
